As Zelena Winters, she is the author of Tambourine Moon, a novella in the Words of the Witches anthology published by Berkley. Descended from a lineage of storytellers, healers, spiritual leaders, and what some might call wizards, Zita draws on her heritage to spin tales of magick in the lives of ordinary people. In the cauldron now are Parchment Moon and Marigold Moon, paranormal romance novels featuring the two sisters from Tambourine Moon. Since 1996, she has taught a six-part, course on the basics of writing commercial fiction at the annual conference of the International Women’s Writing Guild. She has taught the same course, as well as an advanced course, at the Hartford College for Women. In addition to writing and teaching, Zita hosts two weekly, hour-long, television shows on Cox Cable’s public access channel in central Connecticut. Full Bloom, winner of six national Pegasus awards for amateur video production, counters the negative implications of aging by acknowledging the contributions of men and women who, despite their age, have not retired from life. Now in its sixth year, topics have included women’s sacred symbols, Norse mythology, restoring an antique carousel, skincare, alternative medicine, training animals for live theatre, financial planning, and two interviews with internationally known forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee. Launched in 2005, Page 1 ~ the show for writers with the reader in mind features interviews with writers, editors, agents, and others. Guests have included fantasy author Diana L. Paxson, Random House Director of Acquisitions Dorothy Harris, Liz Aleshire and Kathy Barach – co-writers of The Official Price Guide to Quilts, romantic suspense writer Carla Neggers, mystery writer Steven Torres, Jerry Goehring – Executive Director of the Connecticut Children’s Theatre, Jim and Nikoo McGoldrick who write suspense novels as Jan Coffey, Joe Young – creator of the nationally syndicated cartoon strip Scruples, and Pam Lewis – author of the literary suspense novel Speak Softly, She Can Hear.
